EXTERME ART IN ICELAND

Another adventure into the unknown. I Travelled to Iceland this July to
explore the underworld of the earth’s energy. Deep into the lava tubes,
painting on volcano’s and Glaciers in my quest to connect with mother
nature. Like the sea that I paint, neither can be controlled and recently
the World has witnessed the awesome power that nature can bestow on
disrupting our fragile existence and sending Air travel into disarray.

What was I going to paint when I went deep into the caves, The honest answer
is I didn’t know, but I was confident that once I was there, my surroundings
would speak to me, and they did.

Its amazing to enter into a cave with my canvas and all the gear, barely
squeezing through the opening and then crawling through two feet high
ceilings only to arrive into the most amazing World of space as high as a
cathedral and as low as a flattened building.

I set up my easel beside the most incredible ice sculptures that nature had
created and with an audience of black silence I painted without thought of
what I was doing. As I worked I began to understand why I was here. I
realized that nature was telling me that deep down in the veins of our inner
being, lies a fire that needs to be born.

“THE FIRE WITHIN” belongs to us all. And I truly believe that within each of
us lies a fire that wishes to be ignited. We only use a fraction of our
capabilities and I wonder what would happen if we where able to shrug off
the  fear of failure and tackle our dreams with the knowledge that if we
want to, we can, whatever that may be.

Thank you to Iceland, its people and landscape for the knowledge I gained
through my journey and I look forward to expanding this collection inspired
by the raw power and fire that erupts from the earth’s surface.
